This trail is part of the Conejo Recreation & Park District, managed by the Conejo Open Space Foundation. The 5.5-mile loop combines several trails and feels like you’re covering real ground through different terrain without being overly strenuous—the 800 feet of elevation gain is moderate and distributed throughout the hike rather than brutal all at once.

Start on Moonridge Trail, which takes you into Wildwood Canyon with decent shade and a nice sense of moving away from the trailhead crowds. The canyon feels more enclosed here, which dogs tend to enjoy. From there, you’ll climb up to Lynnmere Trail and head east toward Lynn Road. This section opens up more and gives you views that make the elevation gain feel worthwhile. After a brief stint on neighborhood sidewalks (keep your dog close here), you’ll pick up Las Flores Trail heading west, which brings you back into Wildwood Canyon from a different angle. The loop finishes by returning through Indian Creek Trail, which has water running through it depending on the season—something to consider if your dog tends to be a wader.

Dogs must stay on a leash no longer than six feet and need to be under control throughout. The leash requirement makes sense here since you’re moving through multiple trail sections and some areas border residential neighborhoods. Bring water for your dog; there’s a creek but you can’t count on it being accessible or clean enough for drinking. The terrain ranges from packed dirt to rockier sections, so if your dog has sensitive paws, a mid-hike check-in is smart.

The parking lot is at the west end of Avenida de Los Arboles where it meets Big Sky. The lot fills up on weekends, so aim for an early start if you’re going on Saturday or Sunday. The trail is well-marked throughout, which helps since there are several junctions to navigate.
