Mori Point Trail

Bradford Way at Mori Point Road. Or, park at Sharp Park , Pacifica, California 94044

(415) 561-4323

Mori Point is a scenic headland affording stunning views of the coast. It’s accessible via an easy, three-mile trail with lots of interpretive signs and resting points along the way.

Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Mori Point is a 110-acre park in Pacifica that offers walks ranging from a level and easy half-mile stroll to a steep and challenging 1.5-mile hike. The main loop trail covers about 2.6 miles with an elevation gain of roughly 400 feet, while the Old Mori Trail provides an accessible 2.5-mile round-trip walk to an ocean overlook that is popular for whale watching and spectacular spring wildflower displays. On clear days, the panoramic coastal views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, stretching far down the coastline.

Dogs are welcome on leash at Mori Point, and leashed dog walking is permitted on the Coastal Trail, Old Mori Road, Pollywog Path, and the section of beach within the GGNRA boundary. Please keep your dog on leash at all times to protect sensitive habitat and the park’s remarkable wildlife, which includes the threatened California red-legged frog and the endangered San Francisco garter snake. The wetlands, ponds, and restored coastal scrub and grassland habitats are vital to these species, so staying on designated trails with your pup is especially important here.

Spring is a magical time to visit Mori Point with your dog. The hillsides burst with colorful wildflower blooms, typically peaking in April and May. The northern coastal scrub and California coastal prairie habitats support a dazzling variety of native plants that paint the landscape in vibrant colors. Over 33 acres of wetland, grassland, and coastal scrub habitat have been restored as part of ongoing conservation efforts, making each visit a chance to see nature thriving.

Parking/Trailheads:
• Bradford Way at the end of Mori Point Road (near the Moose Lodge) has many free parking opportunities.
• South of the park, Rockaway Beach has a large free parking lot located by the ocean shore and is also convenient for the nearby Rockaway restaurants and stores. Access the park via the level Old Country Road path, or if you’re feeling adventurous you could check out the climb up to the coastal bluffs.
• Pacifica Pier is located off-map parallel to Santa Rosa Avenue. You’ll find plenty of free parking in this area and a great beach-side stroll to Mori Point.

Tips:
• Due to riptides Sharp Park Beach swimming or wading in the ocean here has proved to be deadly for people and pets. Neighboring Linda Mar Beach to the South has a great safe beach.
• The coastal bluff trail heading South from Mori Point becomes very narrow and steep, including a creek crossing at the bottom. The final section which descends to Rockaway Beach is recommended only for the more adventurous.
• Bring water for both you and your dog, as there are no water fountains along the trails. The exposed headland can get windy and cool, so a light jacket is a good idea even on sunny days.
