Reserve six months before your preferred date to secure a site at the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park Campground, nestled in the pines and redwoods at this ideally located campground in Big Sur. The 1,000-acre park has more than 200 sites, some snugged against the Big Sur River. Showers and flush toilets are provided, and there’s ample room to walk your dog even without going on dog-restricted trails.
And fear not: Hundreds of miles of trails in the neighboring Ventana Wilderness are dog-friendly, as is glorious Pfeiffer Beach a few miles away.
