Running Goose

1620 North Cahuenga Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90028

(323) 469-1080

Running Goose sits on a corner of Cahuenga Boulevard with a sprawling front patio that stretches along the street—wide enough that you don’t feel cramped even when it fills up, and covered enough to provide real shade without feeling like you’re eating in a tent. The menu leans toward California comfort food with global influences: wood-fired chicken, house-made pastas, and vegetables that actually taste like something. The place has the relaxed energy of a neighborhood spot that happens to draw people from across Los Angeles, not a destination restaurant trying too hard.

Dogs are welcome on the patio, which is where the action is anyway. Staff will bring water without asking, and they’re genuinely friendly about dogs rather than tolerant. There’s no separate dog menu, but they’ll sometimes offer plain grilled chicken if you ask. Dogs stay outside on the patio; they can’t enter the interior dining space.

The patio itself runs the length of the building along Cahuenga, with plenty of sightlines so you can watch the street while you eat. On cooler evenings the heaters work well, and during the day the shade from the structure keeps things manageable even when the sun’s direct. It’s the kind of place where you can linger over a second coffee without feeling rushed. Parking on the surrounding streets is typical Hollywood—tight but workable, especially if you arrive before the dinner rush hits around 6 p.m. The neighborhood around Los Feliz Boulevard (two blocks south) has a few dog-friendly shops worth walking to before or after, so you could make an afternoon of it.
