In rolling hills about 14 miles south of Hollister, San Benito RV & Camping Resort sits in an area where the ocean’s influence keeps the climate moderate—the coast is only 50 miles west—and wildlife is abundant. The resort operates year-round with full hook-up campsites spread across the property, along with a general store and mini-mart gift shop on-site if you need supplies.
The facilities here are genuinely extensive. Beyond camping, there are two swimming pools, a spa, basketball and tennis courts, sand volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, ping-pong, pool tables, and mini-golf. There’s a recreation center and playground if you’re traveling with kids, plus a clubhouse and cardroom. For group trips, they have banquet meeting facilities and BBQ areas, and a campfire area with an outdoor stage. Restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are clean and well-maintained throughout.
Dogs are welcome, and there’s a dedicated dog run so your dog gets outdoor time. The surrounding area offers plenty to explore beyond the resort itself. Pinnacles National Monument is nearby for hiking, and there are fresh and salt-water fishing opportunities in the region. Several golf courses dot the landscape if that’s your thing, and the temperate climate makes it comfortable for outdoor activities most of the year.
Getting there from the Bay Area is straightforward enough. From I-5, take Highway 152 west toward Gilroy, then Highway 156 to Hollister, then Highway 25 south toward Paicines. Once you pass the Paicines store, turn right on Cienega Road and follow it to the resort. From Highway 101, you can hop over to Highway 25 and head south to Paicines, same turnoff. The roads leading in wind through rural countryside, so allow a bit of extra time if you’re not familiar with the area.
