Spread Kitchen sits right on Highway 12 in a converted barn with an expansive patio that wraps around the building—the kind of outdoor dining space where your dog won’t feel crammed in with a dozen other tables. The covered sections have heat lamps, so you’re not stuck in the cold even on a gray Sonoma afternoon, and the open areas let you catch actual sun when it appears. The kitchen does California cuisine with serious attention to sourcing, but the real draw for a dog owner is that they treat the patio like the main dining room, not an afterthought.
Dogs are welcome on the patio, and the staff brings water without being asked. They don’t have a dedicated dog menu, but they’re genuinely friendly about sharing things from the kitchen—our dog got a piece of grilled chicken and seemed far happier than with the usual plain water bowl. You can’t bring your dog inside the actual restaurant, but honestly, the patio is where you want to be anyway, especially on a decent day. The space is large enough that you’re not eating next to someone else’s anxious dog, and the noise level stays reasonable even when it’s busy.
The location puts you right in the heart of Sonoma wine country, on the road between Sonoma Plaza and Kenwood. Parking is straightforward—a lot right there at the restaurant. They’re open for lunch and dinner most days, though hours vary seasonally, so checking ahead makes sense. The patio has both shade and sun exposure depending on where you sit, and the terrain is flat concrete, so no muddy paws to deal with. Service moves at a relaxed pace, which means you’re not rushed if your dog decides to settle in for a long meal.
