Stardust Motel

1200 Pine St., Redding, California 96001

(530) 241-6121

The Stardust Motel in Redding offers straightforward, no-frills accommodations that work well if you’re passing through with your dog and don’t want to spend a lot. Every room has air conditioning, a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and free Wi-Fi, plus free parking and a 24-hour front desk if you need anything.

The motel welcomes dogs—up to two per room for a small nightly fee each, regardless of size. Cats aren’t allowed. One thing to know: there’s no grassy area on the property itself for bathroom breaks, but you’ll find spots to walk your dog within a short distance. You can’t leave your dog alone in the room while you’re out, so plan accordingly if you’re exploring the area. Call ahead to confirm they have a pet-friendly room available when you book.

The location works in your favor if you want to get out and explore. The Sundial Bridge is nearby—that’s a stunning pedestrian bridge spanning the Sacramento River with views worth the short trip. Turtle Bay Exploration Park is also close by if you’re interested in the museum and gardens (though your dog can’t go inside the buildings, the grounds have nice walking areas). Downtown Redding’s shops and restaurants are within easy reach, and there are several parks in the area for your dog to stretch out.

The Stardust isn’t fancy, but that’s not the point. It’s cheap, allows dogs without hassle, and puts you in a good spot to explore Redding and the surrounding Shasta County area. If you’re road-tripping through Northern California with a dog and just need a comfortable place to crash for the night without breaking the bank, this works.
