Stulsaft Park is Redwood City’s largest park at 42 acres, and it is one of the most popular off-leash dog destinations on the San Francisco Peninsula. Due to numerous public requests for allowing dogs off leash within the park, the City now allows for off-leash trails south of the creek only. The trails are marked with signs. Please follow the rules for the safety and enjoyment for all.

The off-leash trails wind through a beautiful natural landscape of oak woodlands, open meadows, and seasonal creek beds. It is a wonderful place to let your dog run free while you enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by nature. The trails are mostly dirt paths with moderate terrain, making them accessible for dogs and owners of varying fitness levels. On any given day, you will find a friendly community of dog owners and their dogs enjoying the trails together.

It is important to note that per City Ordinance 25.2.05.C, no one is allowed to bring more than three dogs into a park at a time. This rule is strictly enforced and citations are issued. Dogs must display tags showing proof of current license and rabies vaccination at all times.

Dogs must always be on a leash outside the park gates and outside the designated off-leash trails, including the gravel parking lot at Recreation Way and Goodwin. Even in the off-leash areas, you must know your dog’s behaviors, limitations, and mastery of commands. Your dog must remain in your sight at all times and be under reliable verbal control. Dogs displaying aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs must be leashed and removed from the area immediately.

You are still responsible for picking up and disposing of your dog’s waste in the off-leash area, so always bring plenty of bags. Waste stations with bag dispensers are available along the trails to help keep the park clean for everyone.

Please be aware that trails may be temporarily closed due to organized activities and camps, inclement weather, habitat restoration projects, or heavy erosion. Check with the City of Redwood City Parks and Recreation department for current trail status before your visit.

Stulsaft Park is located at the end of Recreation Way off Goodwin Avenue in Redwood City. Parking is available in the gravel lot at the trailhead. The park offers a rare combination of off-leash freedom and beautiful natural surroundings that you and your dog will enjoy exploring together.
