At Ted and Kathy Radke Martinez Regional Shoreline, managed by the dog-friendly East Bay Regional Park District, there’s a real split between what you’ll find on each side of the park. The eastern section, operated by the City of Martinez, has all the sports infrastructure—baseball fields, bocce ball courts, soccer fields—plus group picnic areas that work well if you’re bringing a crowd. But the western section, managed by the East Bay Parks District, is where things get quieter and more natural. You’ll walk past open lawns, smaller family picnic spots, scenic ponds, and creeks winding through the landscape.

Nearly three miles of trails run through marshlands and along the shoreline, which is nice for a moderate walk without anything too strenuous. The setting really does feel more peaceful over here compared to the active sports areas to the east. That said, there are definite restrictions in place to protect the wildlife and sensitive habitats. Dogs aren’t allowed in the duck pond area, marsh areas, or other interior zones where they could disturb nesting birds and other wildlife.

Where your dog can go, keep them on a leash no longer than six feet and make sure they’re under control the whole time. You’ll need to pick up after them—the park staff takes the environmental integrity seriously, and it shows in how well-maintained things are.

The parking areas and other designated dog-friendly sections give you decent access to enjoy the shoreline views and trails without feeling too restricted. If you’re coming from the Martinez area, you’re just a short drive from downtown, and the park sits right where Carquinez Strait views open up. Call ahead or check the East Bay Parks website before you go to confirm which specific areas are accessible that day, since conditions and policies can shift seasonally.
