Tognazzini's Dockside Restaurant sits right on Morro Bay‘s waterfront, giving you views of the iconic Morro Rock and the working harbor while you eat. The place is run by Mark and Bonnie Tognazzini, who take their seafood seriously—they source hook-and-line caught wild Pacific King Salmon and Albacore Tuna from the West Coast, plus feature local crab dishes that actually taste like they came from nearby waters.
The outdoor seating area is where you’ll want to be with your dog. Tables face the water, and there’s usually a nice breeze coming off the bay. Your dog can hang out right beside you while you work through their menu. The staff is genuinely welcoming to dogs and doesn’t treat them like an afterthought—they just ask that dogs be well-behaved, which most are when they’re sitting next to a plate of food they can’t have.
The vibe is casual despite the quality of the seafood. You’re not dealing with white tablecloths or pretension, just fresh fish prepared well and served in a working waterfront setting. If you time it right around sunset, it’s honestly a pretty special place to be. The harbor activity around you—fishing boats, pelicans, sea lions—is part of the experience, and your dog will probably be as entertained by the scene as you are.
Morro Bay itself is very walkable, so you could easily explore the tide pools or grab coffee before or after your meal. If your dog needs a break before eating, the Embarcadero area nearby has some grassy spots. Parking can get tight during peak season, but there’s usually something available within a short walk of the restaurant.
