Located on Colt Street in Ventura, just off the 101, Topa Topa Brewing Company is easy to spot thanks to the red grain silo visible from the freeway. This is the actual brewery headquarters and tasting room where all the brewing and canning happens, not just a satellite location. You can walk up to the outdoor bar in the beer garden and order a pint while taking in the industrial-meets-casual vibe of an active production facility.
The brewery welcomes dogs throughout the beer garden, so you can bring yours along while you sample their lineup. They’ve got plenty of seating outside, which works well for dogs since there’s good airflow and you’re not confined to a small indoor space. The casual atmosphere means no one’s going to bat an eye if your dog settles down next to your table while you’re nursing a beer.
On weekends, especially, the place fills up with locals grabbing fresh cans to go or staying for a few rounds. The beer selection rotates depending on what’s currently being produced, so you’ll get a sense of what they’re focused on at any given time. There’s also a small food program, though it varies—sometimes they have food trucks on-site, other times it’s limited, so check their social media before heading over if you’re counting on a meal.
The location works well for a dog outing because you can combine it with a walk through the surrounding area. The industrial neighborhood isn’t particularly scenic, but it’s functional and you won’t feel rushed. The beer garden gets plenty of shade from structures on the property, which helps on hot afternoons. Parking is straightforward and there’s enough room that you won’t circle endlessly looking for a spot.
