Truckee River Legacy Trail

Truckee River Legacy Trail

The Truckee River Legacy Trail connects downtown Truckee with the Glenshire neighborhood, while traveling along the banks of the Truckee River. Offering lots of sunshine and beautiful river views, the Legacy Trail is an ideal spot to utilize all year round but particularly during the winter – it is plowed when other trails are covered in snow.

It's a 6-mile paved Class I bike path starting at the Truckee River Regional Park (or on the east end of the path, at Glenshire Road, just before entering the Glenshire neighborhood sign). There is also access from Truckee Riverview Sports Park.

This beautiful path winds along the Truckee River with a bridge over Martis Creek and is a popular trail for bikers, runners, dog walkers and families.

  • Mileage: 6 miles one way
  • Level: Easy (but steep approaching Glenshire)
  • Usage: Moderate
  • Access: Truckee River Regional Park or Glenshire
  • Please keep dogs on a leash and pick up after them.

Keeping our trails beautiful and dog-friendly is crucial to ensure everyone enjoys the great outdoors. Some people want to ban dogs from public spaces, but we believe dogs are essential members of our community. They bring joy, companionship, and energy to our hikes. To keep our trails open to our furry friends, we must be responsible. Pick up after your dog, keep them on a leash where required, and respect other trail users. By doing our part, we can ensure that our beloved pups remain welcome on all trails, allowing your pack to continue exploring and enjoying nature together.
