Twisted Cedar Tap House sits right on Highway 140 as you roll through Mariposa, with a sprawling outdoor patio that catches afternoon light and lets you watch the street traffic without feeling exposed to it. The space has the feel of a local watering hole that actually invested in making the outside area livable—not an afterthought concrete slab. The tap selection rotates regularly, and they stock ciders alongside beer, which matters if someone in your group doesn’t drink hoppy things.
Dogs are welcome on the patio, and the setup works well for a dog because there’s actual seating spread across the space rather than a single cramped corner. There’s no kitchen, but food trucks park outside regularly, so you can grab something substantive instead of just pretzels and peanuts. Water for dogs isn’t guaranteed, so bring your own bowl. The indoor bar is humans-only.
Mariposa is about 45 minutes from Yosemite’s south entrance via Highway 41, making this a logical lunch or early dinner stop if you’re heading into the park or coming back out. Highway 140 itself (the All-Weather Highway) is a scenic route, and the town has a handful of other dog-accessible spots within walking distance if you want to stretch legs before or after. The patio gets busy on weekends, particularly in summer and fall, so afternoon visits tend to be more relaxed. They’re open daily, though hours shift seasonally. The elevation sits around 2,000 feet—mild most of the year, but afternoons can get warm in July and August, which is worth considering if your dog doesn’t handle heat well on pavement. Bring sunscreen and plenty of water.
