Sonoma County Regional Parks oversees six public access trails in The Sea Ranch, a private community located south of Gualala along the dramatic California Coast. The Walk On Beach Sea Ranch Access Trail is a straightforward half-mile walk one way that takes you from bluff-top meadows through dense coastal forest down to the rocky shoreline. It’s the kind of trail where you’ll notice the vegetation shifting as you descend—the exposed wind-sculpted trees give way to more protected growth, and then suddenly you’re at the water’s edge where the sound of waves drowns out everything else.

This is legitimately one of the easier coastal access points in Sonoma County, which makes it practical if your dog isn’t a hard-core hiker or if you’re bringing someone who moves slowly. The trail itself is well-maintained and clearly marked, so you won’t spend time second-guessing directions.
