Westlake Village Dog Park

31800 Village Center Rd, Westlake Village, California

Westlake Village Dog Park sits in the retail corridor near Village Center Road, with parking available and access to nearby shopping areas and residential streets. The park divides into two separate enclosures—one for small dogs, one for large dogs—with good fencing throughout. Shade comes from mature trees and manufactured shelters, which matters during Ventura County’s warm months. The ground is a combination of grass and mulch that drains reasonably well after rain.

Dogs may run off-leash within their designated enclosure. All dogs must be leashed outside the fenced areas and current on vaccinations to enter. The small-dog section fills regularly with toy breeds and older dogs, especially on weekends, while the large-dog area draws a wider mix of ages and energy levels. Weekend mornings from roughly 8 to 11 a.m. see the most traffic; weekday afternoons are noticeably quieter for dogs that prefer fewer interactions. A water station sits within the park, though bringing your own water bowl is practical since the area can get hot by midday in summer.

The park functions as an enclosed exercise area rather than a hiking destination. No significant trails connect directly to it. If you want trail work after your visit, the open space around Westlake Village has walking paths throughout the broader community, but plan those as a separate outing. The two-enclosure setup keeps interactions manageable and serves well for socialization and off-leash exercise in a contained setting.
