Humane Society for inland Mendocino County

A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

For almost 30 years now, the Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County has been providing a safe haven for the county’s critters in distress, finding them new loving homes, and helping the surrounding community with spay/neuter and other support services.

Enjoying HSIMC’s hospitality at the moment are many excellent canine companions, from puppies to elders and tinies to giants. If you’re local or planning a trip up that way, and also looking, check out their adoption page for some amazing prospects. Also if you’re local and would like to help out, volunteers and fosters are always welcome.

One novel volunteer opportunity: Kong stuffers. Shelter dogs love the diversion (and tastiness) of getting frozen food out of Kongs. It’s a big quality-of-life improvement for them while they’re waiting to go home. If you’ve got time to spend putting food into Kongs, HSIMC would love to hear from you and also will provide the supplies!
