Wishy-washy about when to plan a dog-friendly winter getaway to Tahoe? Mark your calendar for March 1-10, when North Lake Tahoe SnowFest is in process. This family-friendly series of events is the favorite winter week of the year for many locals and chock-full of activities ranging from tame (snow-queen pageant) to just plain wacky. (Human bowling, anyone?)
“Family-friendly” includes Fido, of course, and this year’s 31st annual fest features many events that you and your pooch can enjoy together. To reel off just a few, there’s a Dress Up Your Dog Contest, a parade, a “decompression party,” a snow sculpture contest and the ever-popular Ididarun dog-pull race, which benefits the Lake Tahoe Humane Society. It’s a great time to be at Tahoe with your best friend.
