The Grateful Table

By: DogTrekker Staff
A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

On Nov. 21, 2017 more than 500 people gathered in a Domaine Chandon vineyard near the border of Napa and Sonoma counties to enjoy an open-air feast at a very long table and raise funds for wildfire relief. Fire responders, chefs, winemakers, tourism officials and many others gave time, energy and money to help those impacted by the October blazes. Visit California and Outstanding in the Field—along with host Tyler Florence and destination partners Visit Napa ValleySonoma County Tourism and Visit Mendocino County—were beneficiaries of the event, called The Grateful Table.

By all accounts, it was a splendid meal and a very successful fundraiser. DogTrekker was there, and urges newsletter readers and visitors to its website to celebrate the spirit of the season with a donation to the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund, the Sonoma County Resilience Fund, the Mendocino County Disaster Fund or the California Restaurant Association Foundation. Every little bit helps!
