Sacramento’s 58 Degrees & Holding Company sits right in the heart of the city’s dining scene, and it’s one of the few places where you can bring your dog along for an actual meal, not just drinks. The outdoor patio is where dogs are welcome, and it’s a genuine spot—you’re sitting out there with a real restaurant experience, not relegated to some side area.
The menu leans toward small plates and shareables, which actually works well if you’re managing a dog at the table. I saw everything from charcuterie boards to roasted vegetables and fish dishes. The kitchen sources locally when they can, and there’s real effort going into the plating and flavor combinations. It’s not pretentious about it, just solid cooking.
What impressed me most was that the wine and beer program is genuinely extensive. They’re not just throwing darts at a wine list—there’s actual curation happening, with options from California producers alongside European selections. If you’re not a wine person, the beer list is substantial too, and cocktails are competent.
The dog-friendly aspect here feels like an afterthought in the best way. Nobody made a fuss about my dog being there, which meant I could actually relax and enjoy my meal instead of feeling like we were being tolerated. The patio has some weather protection, which matters on Sacramento’s hotter days. There’s enough space between tables that your dog isn’t constantly interacting with other people’s food, and the staff seemed genuinely comfortable with dogs around.
This is a place where you can spend a couple hours on a nice evening, order a few plates to share, work through some interesting wines, and your dog just hangs out like it’s completely normal. That combination is harder to find than you’d think in Sacramento. The location puts you within walking distance of the downtown area if you want to explore before or after dinner.
