AutoCamp Sonoma in Guerneville offers a unique glamping experience where dogs are genuinely welcome as guests. The property features cozy, stylish airstreams and luxurious tents scattered across a serene, wooded landscape that feels worlds away from the usual hotel strip. We stayed in one of their airstreams and loved the vintage aesthetic combined with modern comfort — think mid-century design meets actual functionality.
The setting itself is great for dogs. You’ve got plenty of room to wander the wooded grounds without feeling confined to a room or a designated pet area. The terrain is relatively flat and easy for dogs to navigate, and the natural surroundings mean your dog gets that forest experience without needing to drive somewhere. There are quiet walking paths throughout the property where you can move at a slower pace without worrying about hotel corridors or lobby traffic.
What made our stay work was that AutoCamp doesn’t treat dogs like an afterthought. They’ve clearly thought about what makes a dog-friendly stay actually functional. The airstreams and tents have outdoor space, and the overall vibe is relaxed enough that staff doesn’t stress if your dog needs to stretch out and adjust to new surroundings.
The location itself helps too. You’re in Guerneville, which puts you close to the Russian River and several trails if you want to venture beyond the property. Nearby Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve has wonderful shaded trails that dogs can enjoy, especially helpful during warmer months.
One practical note: the accommodations are somewhat compact inside the individual units, so this works better if your dog is okay with cozy quarters. It’s not a sprawling resort where dogs have separate rooms. But if you’re looking for a getaway where your dog isn’t confined to a crate in a standard hotel room, and you want to actually relax in natural surroundings, it’s a solid choice. The wooded setting and easygoing atmosphere make it feel less like “we’re allowing your dog” and more like dogs actually belong there.
