The Banning Stagecoach KOA sits right at the entrance to the mountain roads heading up to Idyllwild, making it a solid pit stop if you’re driving through on I-10 with your dog. The setting feels more like a park than a typical campground—wide, grassy areas with decent mountain views and plenty of room for dogs to move around.
RV sites 1 through 94 come with full hookups and cable TV, while sites 95 through 99 are tent spots with water access. Free WiFi covers the whole property. The swimming pool runs year-round, though obviously your dog won’t be joining you for that. What they will enjoy are the open spaces and the chance to decompress if you’ve been driving a while.
Beyond just parking, there’s a decent activity setup here. You’ll find horseshoe pits, tetherball, volleyball, and a children’s playground. The indoor rec room has a pool table and table tennis if you need to get out of the heat. Everything’s designed to keep people (and their dogs) entertained if you’re staying more than just a night.
The location works well for a few reasons. You’re within easy reach of outlet shopping and several casinos in the area, plus world-class golf courses if that’s your thing. Palm Springs is about 22 miles away, and you’re close enough to San Jacinto Mountains for some hiking opportunities with your dog once you get off the highway.
If you don’t have an RV, they rent fully-furnished park models and RVs so you can experience that style of travel without owning one. You just bring your clothes, groceries, and your dog.
If you’re not towing an RV yourself, the turnoff is at Exit 101 where I-10 meets Hargrave Street—just a couple of blocks from the freeway.
