The California Welcome Center Barstow is located inside the Outlets at Barstow off I-15, positioned perfectly halfway between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. It’s a convenient stop if you’re passing through with your dog, or a good base for exploring the surrounding region. The staff can help you plan day trips to nearby attractions—most are within two hours. You can shop, visit museums, hike in the desert, or head out to Calico Ghost Town to see what remains of the Old West. Barstow itself has a solid selection of hotels and motels, including some historic properties right on Route 66, so you’ll have options whether you’re staying a night or a few days.

Your dog is welcome to come inside on leash while you browse maps and chat with the staff. There’s a designated area near the Welcome Center where your dog can stretch their legs and get some exercise—helpful after time in the car. They also have a water bowl available if your dog needs a drink. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, so you can stop by in the morning while planning your day or swing through in the evening to figure out tomorrow’s route.
