Bass Lake, situated eight miles from Oakhurst in the Sierra Nevada foothills at 3,400 feet elevation, was created in the early 20th century as part of the first hydroelectric project California. Recreational tourism has been its main industry ever since.
Three main resort/marinas, The Pines, The Forks and Miller’s Landing, cater to visitors interested in hiking, fishing, water skiing, patio boating, kayaking or visiting wineries, museums, art galleries, theaters and other attractions in the region. Smaller properties and campgrounds also are in the area.
