Family owned and operated for over 35 years, Bernardo Shores is one of San Diego’s hidden treasures located on San Diego Bay. It’s an adults-only park with spacious sites that can accommodate any size RV, and the setup here is genuinely comfortable. Every site is a back-in spot with full hookups—both 30 and 50 amp service available—plus each one has a brick patio. The meticulously manicured hedges between sites create real privacy, which makes a difference when you’re parked next to neighbors for a few days.
The location is the real draw. The park overlooks the South Bay Refuge, and you can actually bird-watch from several spots throughout the property. There’s a dedicated bike path that runs along much of the south bay, so if you and your dog enjoy riding or walking, you’ve got easy access to miles of waterfront trail. The bay views from the park are nice without being overwhelming—it feels like you’ve found something locals know about rather than a tourist trap.
WiFi is free, which is helpful if you need to check email or stream anything. Being only a couple miles from the I-5 exit near Imperial Beach, you’re well-positioned to reach major San Diego attractions and Coronado if you want to drive there for the day. But honestly, the park itself is calm enough that you might not feel rushed to go anywhere.
The adults-only designation means you won’t have kids running around at 7 a.m., though it’s worth confirming their specific policy about visiting grandchildren or young guests. If you’re bringing a dog, the proximity to the South Bay Refuge and that bike path makes it worth the stay—your dog will have plenty of room to explore nearby without feeling cooped up on the pavement.
