Located on the shore of Bridgeport Reservoir in the beautiful eastern High Sierra, this RV resort sits in one of those rare spots where the views alone justify the drive. Incredible vistas of the Sawtooth Range dominate the landscape, and most sites have unparalleled views of the Bridgeport Valley and Sierra mountains. The sunsets over the lake are genuinely spectacular—the kind that make you stop what you’re doing and just watch.
The reservoir itself is a trophy Rainbow and Brown trout fishery, with fishing access just steps from the RV park. If you’re not into fishing, there’s still plenty to do. Quick and easy access to great hiking and horseback riding trails means you can spend mornings exploring while your dog gets good exercise. The historic ghost town of Bodie is nearby for a day trip, and the beautiful community of Bridgeport offers supplies and services without feeling touristy.
If you’re drawn to fly-fishing, the famous catch-and-release wild trout waters of the East Walker River are close by. The drive there gives you a real sense of how remote and undeveloped this corner of California still is. Even in peak season, the area doesn’t feel crowded the way some High Sierra destinations do.
Getting there is straightforward: from US 395 just south of Bridgeport, turn north on Highway 182. The entrance to the park is on the left approximately 1.25 miles up that road. The elevation here is around 6,700 feet, so plan accordingly if you’re coming in winter or early spring. Mornings can be cool even in summer, but that’s part of what keeps the place feeling fresh and unspoiled.
