Camp Kernville sits right along the Kern River between Ewings Rapid and the Kernville Bridge, with over 1,000 feet of private shoreline. The setup is straightforward and practical—all 54 sites have water and electric hookups, with most including sewer connections too. There are no generators allowed, which keeps things quieter for everyone. Nine sites don’t have sewer hookups, but there’s a dump station on the property for those campers. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring or grill, and you can pitch a tent here if you prefer.

The location is genuinely convenient. You’re right downtown Kernville, so exploring the local restaurants and shops is easy without a car ride. The river access is immediate—you can get to boating, water skiing, and windsurfing within minutes. All the standard amenities are included: 30/50 amp service, hot showers, an air compressor station, beach showers for rinsing off after time in the water, and shaded campsites that make a real difference during hot summer days.

The river itself is the main draw here. Unlike some campgrounds where water access feels distant or complicated, you’re genuinely on the water with decent shoreline to use. The shade from mature trees throughout the property is substantial—something worth noting if you’re coming during peak season when afternoons can get intense in Kernville.

The no-generator policy is worth appreciating. It’s one of those decisions that benefits everyone staying here, making mornings and evenings actually peaceful. If you’re planning to spend time on the water or want a straightforward riverside base for exploring the area, this location works well. It’s about 10 miles north of Isabella Lake, right off Kernville Road near Sirretta Road if you’re navigating in.
