Centennial Dog Park

Memorial Dr., (Between Chestnut and Orange Ave.), South San Francisco, California 94080

(650) 829-3837

Located in South San Francisco at the end of Memorial Drive between Chestnut and Orange Avenue, Centennial Dog Park spreads across 1.8 acres and gives you plenty of room to let your dog stretch out. The park divides into separate sections for small and large dogs, which makes a real difference when you’ve got a smaller dog who gets nervous around bigger playmates—or vice versa.

The ground itself is a mix of artificial turf, decomposed granite, and wood chips, so it’s relatively easy on paws and drains reasonably well even after rain. The artificial turf sections mean you don’t have to worry as much about mud getting tracked back to the car, which is nice if you’re heading somewhere afterward. The decomposed granite areas feel natural underfoot and give dogs good traction without being too hard on joints.

Parking here is straightforward with ample spaces right at the park, so you’re not hunting around for a spot or walking far with your dog in tow. There are restrooms available, which matters more than you’d think if you’re planning to spend an hour or two here rather than just a quick visit. The park has good visibility from most angles, so you can keep tabs on your dog while they’re playing, even if they wander to different corners.

It’s not an elaborate setup with lots of fancy structures, but that’s actually fine—most dogs are happy with space to run, other dogs to interact with, and room to sniff around. The separate areas for size classes mean your dog won’t get overwhelmed by the crowd, and there’s enough room that you won’t feel like everyone’s on top of each other even when it’s moderately busy. It’s a solid neighborhood park that handles its job well without pretension.
