There’s a wonderful dog walking path in Kentfield that runs along Corte Madera Creek from Bon Air Road at the east end to the bridge crossing at Kent Middle School on the west, where Stadium Avenue deadends. Because it runs along the creek with marshes on the other side, you’re really walking right through the middle of a nature area. Egrets, ducks, geese, herons, and gulls are all around you, and depending on the season, you might spot deer or other wildlife moving through the riparian zone. The whole experience feels like you’ve stepped away from suburban Marin without actually going anywhere remote.
The trail surface is paved and in excellent condition most of the way, making it easy for dogs of any age or mobility level. I appreciated how flat and straightforward the route is—no scrambling over rocks or navigating technical terrain. You can go at your own pace without worrying about your dog’s footing. The path is wide enough that you don’t feel crowded even when other walkers and cyclists are using it.
What really makes this trail dog-friendly are the practical touches. There are pooper-scooper bag dispensers at both ends, so you don’t have to plan ahead or carry your own supplies. Park benches are scattered along the route if you want to sit for a bit and just watch the water, and drinking fountains and garbage cans are available throughout. The whole setup makes it feel like someone actually thought about what people need when they’re out with their dogs for an hour or more.
Since the creek runs through the middle and the setting is so peaceful, it’s a genuinely relaxing outing away from traffic noise and roads. You can do a quick 20-minute walk or stretch it into a longer morning adventure depending on your dog’s energy level.
