A sprawling section of Demuth Park on East Mesquite Avenue in central Palm Springs, the dog park divides into two distinct areas: a wide grass expanse for larger dogs and a separate, fenced section for smaller dogs. Mature trees provide substantial afternoon shade, a genuine relief in the desert climate. Water stations are positioned throughout both areas. The ground surface mixes grass and decomposed granite, which drains effectively and resists becoming muddy or slick. Full fencing on both sides allows dogs to run off-leash without constant monitoring of the perimeter.
Dogs of any size use the main area at no cost. The small-dog section provides complete separation, giving owners of anxious or smaller dogs the option to avoid larger play styles. Both areas remain open from dawn to dusk. Early morning and late afternoon draw the most visitors when temperatures are manageable; midday summer hours typically see fewer dogs.
Demuth Park sits within a residential neighborhood rather than isolated in outlying areas. Beyond the dog park itself, the grounds include playgrounds and open lawn spaces. The combination of shade, water access, and separated play zones makes the park functional for various dog sizes and temperaments across Palm Springs’ warm seasons.
