An American style grill united with quality and freshness. Our menu is locally resourced then cooked with the flair that is true Napa Valley. We proudly feature salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, steaks, decadent house made desserts, and more modern pub grub.
Downtown Joe’s has been a local fixture since 1993, family owned and operated in the heart of Napa’s downtown corridor. The brewhouse itself was built in 1988 by Chuck Ankeny, the great grandson of Theodore Hamms, and carries on a brewing tradition that stretches back to the early 1800s. Brewmaster Colin Kaminski oversees the operation, focusing on English and West Coast style house brewed craft beers that pair naturally with the restaurant’s food offerings.
What makes Downtown Joe’s work for a visit with your dog is the casual, unpretentious vibe that extends to their patio setup. You’ll find the atmosphere genuinely welcoming rather than fussy—the kind of place where dogs are treated as regular visitors, not special accommodations. The patio has plenty of shade depending on the time of day, and there’s usually a breeze moving through downtown that keeps things comfortable.
The food itself holds up to the Napa Valley setting without pretension. House-made desserts are legitimately good, and the burgers and sandwiches are solid lunch options if you’re not in the mood for something heavier. The locally sourced ingredients mean seasonal changes to the menu, so there’s usually something different to try on repeat visits.
Downtown Joe’s sits in a walkable part of Napa where you can easily explore nearby shops and galleries with your dog afterward. The restaurant handles both the brewing operation and the kitchen in-house, which means consistency and a real sense of ownership over what’s being served. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat and drink without the wine country pretense, this is a genuinely good option.
