That history gives it a different character than the newer luxury hotels scattered throughout the valley.

The motel spreads across three buildings with different room styles, so there’s real variety depending on what you want. Some rooms have that retro motel charm; others are more updated. We found the staff genuinely helpful about where to walk the dog in the area and which nearby wineries had outdoor seating where we could bring our dog along.

The included breakfast arrives fresh each morning, which is honestly convenient when you’re trying to get out the door early to beat heat on the trails. St. Helena sits at the heart of Napa Valley, so you’re positioned well for exploring—Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is about fifteen minutes away and has some good dog-friendly hiking if you time it right for cooler temperatures.

The motel doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which we appreciated. The grounds are well-maintained, and there’s a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in after a day of wine tasting or hiking. Main Street in St. Helena is a short walk, so you can grab dinner or coffee without getting back in the car every time.

If you’re looking for a place to land in Napa that has actual character and doesn’t drain your budget quite as heavily as some of the valley’s newer properties, this hits different. The blend of that art deco history with practical, comfortable rooms works well for a dog-friendly trip through wine country.
