Hotel Indigo San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is just steps from the convention center, which means you’re also close to easy walks along the waterfront and quick access to the Gaslamp Quarter’s restaurants and shops. The neighborhood itself is walkable and lively, with plenty of places to grab food and explore.

The hotel has a clear dog-friendly policy, and during our visit, the staff treated dogs like actual guests—not an afterthought. They have water bowls ready and don’t make you feel like you’re inconveniencing anyone by bringing your dog. The rooms are clean and modern, with a boutique feel that doesn’t try too hard. What made a real difference was the Level9 Bar, which overlooks PETCO Park. On nice evenings, you can sit outside with your dog and watch the sunset over the stadium with a drink in hand. It’s genuinely one of the best hotel bar experiences we’ve had with a dog in tow.

The hotel emphasizes local art throughout the property and sustainable practices, which is apparent in the design choices and materials used. The rooms feel thoughtfully put together rather than generic, with good attention to details like lighting and workspace. It’s not a large property, which we appreciated—it felt more personal than a chain hotel.

The Gaslamp Quarter location is both convenient and interesting. You’re within walking distance of the waterfront parks where dogs can get exercise, and the neighborhood has actual character. The area gets busy on weekend evenings, so if you’re looking for peace and quiet, a weekday visit might suit you better.

Parking is available on-site, which is helpful if you’re driving. If you’re planning to explore San Diego with your dog for several days, this is a solid home base that doesn’t require apologies for having a dog with you.
