Koda Dog Park

Koda Dog Park

100 Oxford Drive, Oakley, California 94561

The moment you walk through the gates at Koda Dog Park, you’ll see why it draws dogs from across Oakley—there’s real space here, divided into two generous fenced areas that let you choose based on your dog’s size and temperament. The larger section sprawls across several acres of mixed grass and decomposed granite, with mature oak trees providing actual shade instead of just token coverage. The smaller dog area is proportional and separate, so if you have a tiny or senior dog, you’re not dodging 80-pound enthusiasts.

Dogs can run off-leash throughout both sections once you’re past the entry gates. There’s a water station for dogs, though you’ll want to bring a collapsible bowl or cup since the setup is basic. The park doesn’t charge a fee. Parking is directly adjacent on Oxford Drive, and the lot fills up quickly on weekend mornings, so aim for early weekday visits if you prefer fewer crowds. Peak times tend to be Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The park opens at dawn and closes at dusk year-round. The terrain is mostly flat and easy on paws, though the decomposed granite can get dusty during dry months—bring water for yourself too if you’re staying a while. Oakley summers get hot, so those oak trees become genuinely valuable by mid-afternoon. The park sits in a residential area with street parking available on Oxford and nearby streets if the lot is full. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, which means you’ll actually hear and see dogs clearly, making it easier to monitor play dynamics. During summer months, the grass can thin out in high-traffic zones, so the decomposed granite takes over as the primary surface.
