The Larkspur Neighborhood Dog Park sits on Madrone Avenue in a residential pocket of this quiet Marin County town, with two separate fenced enclosures—one for small dogs running about a quarter-acre, the other spreading across roughly three-quarters of an acre for larger dogs. Both areas have fully fenced perimeters that prevent dogs from wandering toward nearby streets. The surface is mostly decomposed granite mixed with grass patches, which provides solid drainage in winter though it gets dusty on dry afternoons in summer. A few shade trees edge the property, but the park is largely open, so morning or late-afternoon visits feel more comfortable during heat waves.
Dogs are allowed off-leash within the fenced areas at no cost, and there are no size minimums for the small-dog section. The park operates dawn to dusk. Water stations on-site consist of dog-height bowls rather than fountains, so carrying a collapsible bowl may help if your dog drinks heavily. The space includes picnic tables and trash bins with dog-waste dispensers for easy cleanup.
Adjacent tennis courts mean occasional foot traffic from other park users but also keep the space actively maintained. Peak times run early morning and late afternoon on weekdays, with weekends drawing clusters of dogs around 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The location is close enough to Larkspur’s downtown shops that you could combine a visit with errands, though the surrounding area remains primarily residential. The Larkspur Ferry Terminal is about a ten-minute walk south if waterfront access interests you afterward.
