Lewis Creek Trail

Lewis Creek Trail

The Lewis Creek National Scenic Trail to Corlieu Falls and Red Rock Falls is a 3.7 mile out and back trail located near Oakhurst that features waterfalls, beautiful spring flora and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Use the Hwy 41 trailhead as your starting point; it is 9 miles north of Oakhurst, just past the 4000 foot elevation sign. Follow the Lewis Creek NRT along an historic lumber flume route (some remnants can be seen). The Sugar Pine Lumber Company used the enormous flume to float milled lumber more than 50 miles to the town of Madera. Corlieu and Red Rock waterfalls please the spirit, as well as, beautiful flora in the spring as you travel this moderate to steep North/South trail.

Keeping our trails beautiful and dog-friendly is crucial to ensure everyone enjoys the great outdoors. Some people want to ban dogs from public spaces, but we believe dogs are essential members of our community. They bring joy, companionship, and energy to our hikes. To keep our trails open to our furry friends, we must be responsible. Pick up after your dog, keep them on a leash where required, and respect other trail users. By doing our part, we can ensure that our beloved pups remain welcome on all trails, allowing your pack to continue exploring and enjoying nature together.
