MacRostie’s tasting room sits at the edge of a working vineyard where you can actually see the rows of pinot noir and chardonnay vines from the patio—not just a view, but the real thing, with the Mayacamas Mountains rising behind them. The property feels less formal than you’d expect from a Healdsburg winery, with a straightforward concrete patio where people and dogs settle in at wooden tables. The building itself is understated, a clean-lined estate house rather than the grand chateau setup common on this stretch of Westside Road.
Dogs are allowed on the patio for wine tastings and can join you for vineyard walks on the property’s trails. They’re not permitted inside the tasting room itself. The winery occasionally has its own resident dogs around, so your dog may have canine company. Tastings run about $35-45 per person depending on the current flight selection, and food pairings—usually local charcuterie and cheeses—are available for an additional fee. Water and shade are generally available, though midday summer heat can be intense, so plan accordingly.
The property sits roughly eight miles northwest of downtown Healdsburg via Westside Road, a scenic but winding drive through wine country. You’ll find the Russian River Brewing Company and several other smaller tasting rooms along the same stretch if you want to make a longer outing. Hours are typically 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, though it’s wise to check ahead during off-season months. The vineyard walks themselves are gentle and short—mostly flat terrain—so they work well for older dogs or those not used to hiking. Parking is on-site with no formal lot, just pull in near the entrance.
