A gift from the late Lodi farmer turned philanthropist William G. Micke, this 132-acre park remains one of the most popular attractions in San Joaquin County. The sheer range of things to do here means you could easily spend a full day without running out of options, whether you’re just looking for a relaxing walk or something more involved.
The park’s centerpiece is Wortley Lake, a three-acre lake with a dramatic 40-foot water fountain that’s particularly striking in the morning light. The Japanese Garden is worth a dedicated visit—it’s planted with Cherry Blossom trees, has a traditional Tea House, and includes a Koi pond that’s genuinely peaceful even when the rest of the park is busy. The San Joaquin County Historical Museum is also on the grounds if you want to explore local history between walks.
For families wanting to add activities beyond the usual park experience, Fun Town at Micke Grove offers amusement rides and carnival-style food. There’s also a Micke Grove Zoo on the property. The disc golf course is an 18-hole layout that winds through the park, which can be a fun alternative to standard walking paths if you’re into that sort of thing.
When it comes to taking your dog around, you’ll find plenty of open space for walking. There are picnic tables scattered throughout, along with BBQ grills if you want to cook. Softball fields, water play features, and children’s playgrounds occupy different sections, so you can navigate to quieter areas if crowds aren’t your thing. The park also has rental facilities with outdoor picnic shelters and indoor spaces for larger gatherings.
