Miller Boat Launch sits on four acres along the east side of Tomales Bay, just north of Marshall, and it’s the kind of practical spot where you can actually get your dog and a boat in the water without too much fuss. The two-lane ramp was renovated in 2007 and handles both motorized and non-motorized boats, with docks available for launching. What makes it particularly useful is the overnight parking situation—boaters can leave their vehicles here while they’re out on the water, which opens up options for multi-day trips to Point Reyes or anywhere else on Tomales Bay that interests you.
From Point Reyes Station, head north on Highway 1 for about 13 miles and you’ll see the launch on the left side, right next to Nick’s Cove. The spot draws anglers year-round for striped bass, perch, rockfish, halibut, salmon, and crab, so you might find yourself surrounded by people casting lines while your dog hangs out on a leash nearby. Both the dock and parking areas are accessible, which matters if mobility is a consideration.
Your dog is welcome here as long as they stay leashed and away from the wetland areas—those restrictions exist because the marshes support sensitive wildlife species that need protecting. Personal watercraft are also banned for the same ecological reasons, so it’s a quieter scene than some other boat launches. If you’re planning a longer boating adventure and want the flexibility of leaving your vehicle for a few days while you explore by water, this is one of the few places on the bay that allows it. The straightforward setup means you can focus on actually getting out on the water rather than dealing with complicated logistics.
