Magellan Ave. & Hwy. 1, El Granada, California 94019

Mirada Surf in Half Moon Bay is a 15-acre coastal bluff park that welcomes dogs on all paths as long as they are on leash. Situated in El Granada just south of Pillar Point Harbor within San Mateo County, this undeveloped stretch of coastline offers some of the most striking ocean views on the San Francisco Peninsula. The California Coastal Trail winds through the property, providing a scenic route for dog walkers, joggers, hikers, and cyclists to enjoy the raw beauty of the Northern California coast.

The main section, known as Mirada Surf West, features a well-maintained trail that meanders along the coastal bluffs with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean stretching to the horizon. Benches are placed along the path, inviting you to pause and take in the sights and sounds of the sea while your dog rests beside you. At the northern end of Mirada Surf West, two picnic tables provide a perfect spot for a casual drop-in picnic. Parking and restrooms are conveniently located at the southern end of the property off of Magellan Avenue, making access easy.

Directly across Highway 1 from Mirada Surf West lies Mirada Surf East, a 34-acre protected open space that extends the adventure inland. A trail from Mirada Surf East connects to nearby Quarry Park, a popular 517-acre community park with additional trails through eucalyptus groves and open meadows. This connection means you can turn a quick coastal stroll into a longer exploration of the coastside trail network, giving your dog plenty of room to stretch their legs. Hikers, joggers, equestrians, bicyclists, and leashed dogs are all welcome on these connected trails.

The coastside location of Mirada Surf means you will often enjoy cool ocean breezes and dramatic views of waves crashing against the bluffs below. On clear days, the panoramic views are stunning. The park is an excellent complement to other dog-friendly destinations in the Half Moon Bay area, including nearby beaches, Pillar Point Harbor, and the Coastal Trail segments that extend north and south along the coast.
