Noelani's Island Grill brings the warm, laid-back spirit of Hawaii to the charming downtown of San Carlos on the San Francisco Peninsula. This Hawaiian-Asian fusion restaurant has earned a devoted following and recognition from the San Francisco Chronicle, as well as a Viewer’s Choice award on Taste TV, thanks to its authentic island flavors, generous portions, and genuinely welcoming atmosphere. For dog owners, Noelani’s is a fantastic dining destination, offering outdoor patio seating where your leashed dog can relax by your side while you enjoy a taste of the islands.

The menu at Noelani’s Island Grill is a celebration of Hawaiian cuisine with creative Asian-fusion touches. Start with a Poke Sampler featuring all four varieties of Hawaiian poke, including Ahi Shoyu, Ahi Spicy, Kim Chee Tofu, and Lomi Salmon. Signature entrees include Kalua Pork, a traditional Hawaiian dish of slow-roasted pulled pork with sauteed green cabbage, along with a selection of fresh seafood, noodle dishes, and hearty plate lunches that will transport your taste buds straight to the islands. The menu also features a variety of tropical cocktails and beverages that pair perfectly with the food.

The restaurant features two outdoor patios, both equipped with heat lamps for those cooler Peninsula evenings. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating areas, and the staff is known for being friendly to canine guests, often bringing out a bowl of ice water on warm days. Live island music on Friday and Saturday nights and during Sunday brunch creates a festive, relaxed vibe that makes dining here feel like a mini vacation. Restaurant hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

San Carlos is a wonderful town for dog owners, with a walkable downtown along Laurel Street lined with shops and eateries. After your meal, take your dog for a stroll through the neighborhood or head to one of the nearby parks. Arguello Park offers open green space and a popular dog play area, while Heather Elementary School fields are a favorite local spot for off-leash exercise during permitted hours. For a more adventurous outing, the Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve is just a short drive away and features several miles of dog-friendly trails through rolling hills with beautiful views of the Bay.

From poke and kalua pork to tropical cocktails enjoyed al fresco with your dog, Noelani’s Island Grill delivers an authentic Hawaiian dining experience in a dog-friendly setting. The combination of outstanding food, outdoor patios, live music, and a welcoming attitude toward dogs makes this one of the best spots on the Peninsula for a fun meal out with your pup.
