Rosie's Cottage is a spacious, contemporary stand-alone retreat located just south of the main Little River Inn property on the Mendocino Coast. It’s the inn’s most luxurious dog-friendly accommodation, and the setup works well if you’re traveling with a dog who needs actual space rather than a cramped room.
The cottage itself is impressive—vaulted ceilings, ocean views, and a secluded back deck overlooking the woods make it feel more like a private home than a hotel room. You can choose between a one-bedroom or two-bedroom layout depending on your group size. The back deck is where you’ll spend time while your dog explores the quieter surroundings, and having that separation from the main inn property means fewer crowds and more peace.
The Little River Inn goes beyond the basics with dog amenities. They provide water and food dishes, a pet towel, cover sheets for furniture to protect from dirt or shedding, disposable waste bags, and welcome treats. The property has designated on-leash walking areas with waste bag dispensers and receptacles, so you’re not scrambling to figure out where to handle bathroom breaks.
There are no size or breed restrictions, and you can bring up to two dogs. The $30 per pet, per night fee is reasonable for this level of accommodation. One thing to note: your dogs can’t be left alone in the room, so you’ll need to arrange activities or takeout if you want to go out. The inn does offer pet-friendly dining at breakfast and dinner if you make reservations in advance, which saves you from having to leave your dog behind.
The location puts you close to the Mendocino Coast’s dramatic bluffs and beaches, though you’ll want to check tide pools and beach access rules before heading out. The cottage’s quiet setting makes it an easy base for exploring the area without the stress of managing your dog in a busy hotel hallway.
