Tanzanite Community Dog Park

2220 Tanzanite Way, Sacramento, California 95834

Tanzanite Community Dog Park is a 2-acre, fully fenced, off-leash space within Tanzanite Community Park in Sacramento. Getting there takes a bit of effort—it’s a walk from the parking lot, and you’ll need to keep your dog on leash the whole way there. Follow the paved path past the skate park and head toward the southeast corner of the park, near the pond’s edge. Once you arrive, you’ve got a large grassy play area where your dog can really run, plus water access with a faucet so you can fill a bowl if needed. There are benches scattered around if you want to sit and watch, along with waste receptacles and bags.

The setting is pleasant, with nice views of the pond that make it less feel like you’re just standing in a parking lot somewhere. The main thing to know before you go is that there’s no separation between areas for small and large dogs, so if you have a tiny dog, this might not feel like the safest option. Larger, more confident dogs tend to have the better experience here since they’re not at risk of getting bowled over by bigger players during rough-and-tumble sessions.

The walk from the parking area is genuinely worth considering if you’ve got an older dog or one that gets tired easily, since you’ll need to make the return trip on leash. On a warm day, bring extra water—the one faucet at the dog park area is handy, but you’ll want to make sure your dog stays hydrated, especially during the walk back out. It’s a solid neighborhood dog park if you’re in the area, and the pond views are a nice bonus.
