Tanzanite Dog Park spreads across a generous fenced space in east Sacramento, with the kind of worn-in grass and packed earth you’d expect from a well-used neighborhood park. The layout splits into a larger area for standard dogs and a smaller enclosure for dogs under 25 pounds, which keeps the miniature breeds from getting trampled during peak afternoon hours. A few mature trees provide scattered shade, though on summer days you’ll want to arrive early or wait until late afternoon when the heat breaks.
Dogs run off-leash throughout both sections, and there’s a water station for refilling bowls—bring your own or plan to make do with the hose connection. The park sits in a residential area, so parking is street-side and can get tight on weekends. Check hours before heading out, as gate access varies by season and maintenance schedules.
The surrounding neighborhood is quiet and leafy, typical of eastern Sacramento. The park itself doesn’t have restrooms or picnic tables, so this is a 20-to-30-minute visit spot rather than an all-day destination. Most regulars show up in early morning or around 5 p.m. when work hours end. The surface is mostly grass with some exposed dirt where the grass has worn through, so muddy paws are a real possibility after rain. If your dog is social and doesn’t need shade infrastructure, this park works fine for a quick exercise session.
