The Tenderfoot Trail is one of several paths wandering the ridges above Mill Valley. Combine it with the Cypress Trail, Edgewood Road and the Old Pipeline Trail for a mildly strenuous, 4.5-mile loop departing from the trailhead
off of Edgewood, not far from Mountain Home Inn. For more of a workout, combine it with the Dipsea Stairs, three sets of stairways with 670 steps total.
Getting There:
From Highway 101, take the Mill Valley-Stinson Beach exit, follow the Panoramic Highway and watch for the Mountain Home Inn on your right. The public parking lot is on the left.
To hike up the Dipsea Stairs, head west from downtown Mill Valley on Throckmorton Avenue to Old Mill Park on the left. Park in the street, walk left on Cascade. The stairs are alongside a driveway at the intersection of Cascade Way and Molino Avenue.
