The Getaway provides comfortable and stylish vacation rentals with spacious, fully furnished mid-century modern apartments located in the hills of Desert Hot Springs. The apartments come with full kitchens, walk-in closets, central heat and air conditioning, open floor plans for casual living, and original mid-century details throughout. Each apartment’s front door leads out to a large patio with palm trees, pool and hot tub, with the spectacular view of the Little San Bernardino Mountains as your backdrop during warm sunny days and star-filled desert nights.
For dog owners, The Getaway is particularly appealing because the apartments open directly onto outdoor space — your dog can step out onto the patio with you rather than being confined to a hotel room. The hillside setting in Desert Hot Springs means quieter streets for morning and evening walks, and the panoramic views of the valley and mountains make those walks feel genuinely special. You’ll notice the laid-back, small-town atmosphere here, with less traffic and fewer crowds than you’d find closer to Palm Springs.
The full kitchen is a practical bonus when traveling with a dog, since you can prep meals on your own schedule without worrying about leaving your pup alone while you go out to eat. That flexibility matters more than you might think. Desert Hot Springs sits on the north side of the Coachella Valley, a bit removed from the busier Palm Springs scene, which many dog owners prefer. Several natural hot spring spas are in the neighborhood if you want to explore while a travel companion stays with the dog, and the drive into downtown Palm Springs takes about 20 minutes if you want to venture that direction.
Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, and there is a pet fee. Keep in mind that dogs cannot be left in the apartments unattended, so you’ll need to plan activities accordingly or arrange for someone to stay with your dog if you want to head out without them.
