If you’re seeking a serene rail-trail experience in Marin County with breathtaking vistas of San Francisco Bay and Mt. Tamalpais, the Tiburon Bike Path, also known as Tiburon Linear Park, delivers exactly that. Starting at Blackie’s Pasture, this former railroad corridor has been converted into a leisurely 2.4-mile route that works equally well for walking or biking with your dog.
The path itself is well-maintained and mostly flat, making it accessible whether you’re taking a casual stroll or covering distance on two wheels. You’ll walk alongside the water in many stretches, with views opening up across the bay toward the San Francisco skyline. The route passes through a mix of open areas and tree-lined sections, so there’s some variety in scenery and shade as you go. Mt. Tamalpais rises prominently to the north, creating a dramatic backdrop throughout most of the walk.
The trail ends near the Tiburon waterfront, where you can continue exploring the town’s shops and restaurants along Main Street if you want to extend your outing. The path is flat and easy to navigate, which means dogs of different ages and fitness levels can handle it without trouble. Spring and early summer are particularly nice when wildflowers bloom along the route, though it’s pleasant year-round.
One practical note: the trail can get fairly busy on weekends and nice weather days, especially closer to Blackie’s Pasture, so an early morning or weekday visit tends to feel more peaceful. There’s parking at Blackie’s Pasture itself, which makes it convenient to access the trailhead without hunting around the Tiburon waterfront area.
