The 40-acre Tri-City Park in Placentia sits right where three cities meet—Placentia, Fullerton, and Brea—making it a convenient spot if you’re anywhere in the northern Orange County area. The park’s centerpiece is an 8-acre lake that attracts migratory waterfowl throughout the year, which means you’ll see plenty of ducks, geese, and other birds during your visit. If you’re into fishing, you can cast a line for catfish and bluegill with a valid California Fish and Game License. Model sailboat enthusiasts also use the lake regularly, so you might see radio-controlled boats zipping across the water while you’re walking your dog along the shore.

Beyond the lake, the park offers solid recreational options. There are dedicated walking and biking paths that give you plenty of room to explore with your dog on leash. Three reservable picnic shelters scattered throughout the grounds come equipped with tables and barbecues if you want to pack a lunch, and additional picnic tables and benches are positioned throughout the property. The park also functions as a wildlife sanctuary, so the bird watching here is genuinely good—bring binoculars if you’re interested in spotting some of the less common visitors.

Your dog needs to stay leashed at all times with a maximum 6-foot leash, which is pretty standard for parks in the area. The grounds stay open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., so you have flexibility for morning walks or evening outings. The mix of water views, open walking areas, and shade from the shelters makes it a comfortable spot even on warm days. Parking is available throughout the park, and the pathways are well-maintained and easy to navigate with a dog.
