Van Sickle Bi-State Park

A partnership project of Nevada State Parks, the Tahoe Conservancy and numerous other organizations, this new, 575-acre park is the only bi-state park in the nation with a joint entrance. The trailhead is on Lake Parkway, kitty-corner from the Crescent V (Raley’s) shopping center, across from Forest Suites and within easy walking distance of the South Shore casino district on Highway 50.

The park’s main trail travels below the Heavenly Gondola lift line to a cluster of historic structures once belonging to Henry Van Sickle and dating to the 1860s. From there, it zig-zags up, passing through a burn area before entering green forest again, offering stellar views of the lake all the way. Spur trails under construction eventually will connect to the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The park and its trail are open to hikers, cyclists and equestrians. Dogs should be leashed in the developed base area and around horses, and must be under strict control at all times. Please remember to pick up after your dog.

Restrooms and limited parking are available at the trailhead. Or, park behind Harrah’s and walk over.
