Villa Dog Park

908 Chanticleer Way, Healdsburg, California 95448

(707) 433-3301

Villa Dog Park sprawls across a generous fenced area in the residential north end of Healdsburg, with mature oak trees providing real shade—the kind that matters on hot Sonoma afternoons. The park divides into separate zones for small and large dogs, each with its own entry, so you won’t have a 90-pound lab accidentally bowling over a Chihuahua at the gate. The ground is mostly grass with some decomposed granite, which drains well after the infrequent rain and doesn’t turn to mud. There’s a water fountain for dogs, and the surrounding landscape opens up enough to give you sightlines everywhere, reducing the tension some parks have. The terrain is flat and easy for any dog, and the fencing is solid and well-maintained, which matters when you’re letting your dog off-leash around other animals.

Dogs are free to roam both areas during regular park hours. The small-dog section tends to fill up on weekend mornings with the Healdsburg regulars, and the separate entrance means you can scope it out before committing. The shade trees are distributed well enough that dogs can move away from direct sun, though in July and August you’ll want to arrive early since heat becomes a real factor. The park closes at dusk. Bring your own water bowl or use the fixture provided. Weekday mornings tend to be calmer than weekends if your dog prefers smaller crowds. The setup works best during fall and spring when temperatures don’t punish you for lingering.

From downtown Healdsburg, head north on Vine Street and hang a right on Chanticleer Way; the park sits in the quieter residential area away from the tasting rooms and plaza crowds. If you’re staying in town, this is a solid 10-minute drive from the main drag.
