Yosemite Valley Lodge sits right in the heart of the valley, so you’re steps away from the granite cliffs and waterfalls that make this place special. We stayed here with our dog and appreciated having the valley’s main attractions accessible without needing to drive constantly—El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and the valley floor trails are all nearby on foot or a short shuttle ride away.
The lodge itself has a comfortable, lived-in feel rather than feeling corporate or sterile. Our room had a view of the waterfall, and it was genuinely nice to wake up to that. Free Wi-Fi means you can handle any work obligations without worrying about connectivity, which matters when you’re planning your days around dog-friendly activities. The restaurant and lounge are convenient if you want to grab food without leaving the property, though we also appreciated being able to walk to other dining options in the valley.
One real advantage for traveling with a dog: the park shuttle stop is right at the lodge. This matters because some of Yosemite’s best dog-friendly trails have limited parking. Being able to hop on the shuttle without driving yourself reduces stress, especially during peak season when the valley can feel crowded.
The lodge caters to dog owners, which we noticed in small ways—staff were helpful about suggesting nearby spots for walks and didn’t make a fuss about our dog being around. The property is large enough that you’re not constantly running into other guests, and there’s plenty of space to move around without feeling cramped.
The Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 from over 6,500 reviews reflects what we experienced—solid, reliable lodging in an exceptional location. Since pet policies can shift, you’ll want to contact the lodge directly before booking to confirm their current fees and any restrictions they’re enforcing.
